Those nurse practitioners permitted to prescribe are those who are registered as prescribing Nurse Practitioners by the Nursing and Midwifery Council UK. The above list is in addition to the power to prescribe repeat prescriptions in accordance with regulation 3(5)(b) of the Medicines (Prescription Only) Regulations 1987. In such cases dosages of those medications may be adjusted within the BNF Guidelines mentioned above. Pharmacy reimbursement through the GPMS for any prescribing by Nurse Practitioners is the same as for prescribing by Gibraltar Registered Medical Practitioner practicing within the GHA.
