(When given Lupron, the following menstrual period may take longer to appear after discontinuing oral contraceptive pills). This medication is not used when the patient no longer has menstrual periods.

You will need to have a transvaginal ultrasound examination performed on the 2nd or 3rd day of your following menstrual period. We will also need your estradiol level in blood (obtained on the very same day of the ultrasound) - E-mail those results to us. We will then instruct you to start taking Estrace (estradiol) 2 mg tablets orally twice daily (4 mg/day) for two days and then three tablets (6 mg/day) daily until the day we see you in Buenos Aires. This hormonal medication prepares the inner lining of the uterus for embryo transfer. With this schedule we will expect to see you in the office 10 days after starting Estrace.

Ten days after starting Estrace, you will need to have another transvaginal ultrasound examination performed. - E-mail the results to us. At this point you should probably be almost ready for embryo transfer and be traveling to Argentina.
