Announcements Word is that Gus may be going home this weekend but don’t bother them
yet until he says he is ready for visitors.
Our new member, Jim Britton is having a bout of poor health. Don’t know what is wrong yet.
Tim had a thank you note from his wife, Ruth, for the donations last week to Second Wind.
Dick Enslow gave the results for the Annual Sertoma Golf Tournament held at The Meadows
Golf Course. In the Gross flight, Scott Manley first place, Mike Magee second. In the Net flight,
Jim Rees first place, Dick Mason second. The Sandbagger flight was won by Rev. Jim
Robinson (with a little help from above) and second went to Don Smith. Closet to Pin – Dick
Enslow and Longest Putt, Scott Manley. We had 3 guests: Ray Miller, Ray Russel and our old
friend, Jack Thompson.
At this week’s board meeting, it was brought up that Littleton Sertoma is having another Charity
Sporting Clays Event Friday, Oct 1st. at Kiowa Creek. If you’re interested, I think we will be
taking names next week.
Ed Bezjak is going gambling and says he will take your money with him but no guarantee he will
come back with any of it. Sounds like a solid bet to me.
Fall Dist. Conf. maybe Oct 11. More to follow.
Englewood Chamber of Commerce luncheon is on Oct 19th. Cost $20 but club picks up half.
Reservation deadline is Oct 5th. Howie Kelsall will have an honorable mention there. Meridian
Retirement Center, 3455 S. Corona St. 11:30am. There is NO lunch on the 14th.
Will Martinez has King Soopers coupons. The club receives 5% but only 4 people regularly use
the service. The card is like a debit card so it’s easy to use.
Sertoman of the Day: Dick Laskey was born 8-15-48 in Detroit Michigan. His grandfather was
a dentist who worked on notables such as Race Beamer of early radio fame and baseball Hall
of Famer Ty Cobb.
Dick passed around for viewing some very old stock certificates that aren’t worth anything but
the stamps on them could be worth a lot. His high school is closed and his rivers were the
Detroit & Rusch rivers. Dick joined Sertoma in 1980 and has served in many of the club offices
including President in 1986, Treasurer, etc.
Dick has been married to Linda since 1970 and they have a daughter and a son plus two
grandkids. They moved to Colorado in 1973. He earned an accounting degree at Kalamazoo
U. Dick had no military.
