B.Sc. completed in organic chemistry under supervision of Professor Kenneth Wärnmark.
Fall 11 – Spring 12 Exchange Abroad Program Student at University of California in Irvine (UCI),
Undergraduate studies in chemistry as well as chemical research in the field of organometallics under supervision of Professor Suzanne A. Blum. Achieved a final GPA of 3.92, summa cum laude (maximum = 4.00,)
Fall 03 - Spring 06 Secondary Education: Natural Sciences, Katedralskolan in Lund with a final
mean score of 17.7 (maximum = 20.0) over 31 courses, and with an award in English for excellency. Research Experience Spring 13
Diploma Work (MSc) completion March 2013, under supervision of Dr. André Fleckhaus in the research lab of Professor Ola F. Wendt in Organometallics. Objective: Synthesis of N-heterocyclic gold (I) complexes for further investigation on reactivity with aryl halides and other electrophiles in a kinetic study.
Spring 12 - Fall 12 Junior Specialist working under supervision of Professor Suzanne A. Blum at
Objective: Development of a new single-molecule technique to image catalytic reactions at individual transition metal centers using a developed Heck-catalyzed reaction. These single-molecule techniques are part of a big picture, a ground breaking project to change the way chemists think about studying chemical reaction mechanisms: by actually watching reactions live, one molecule at a time. An excellent platform for testing new mechanistic hypotheses, and for building a fundamental understanding of metal-based reactivity.
Research project under supervision of Professor Selwyn Mapolie at Stellenbosch University.
Objective: Continuation of the research project started in E. Nordlanders group, synthesis of chloroquine derivative d-block metal complexes with primary focus on palladium (II) based complexes. The work was completed with a research presentation.
Research Project under supervision of Dr. Graeme Hogarth at University College London (UCL).
Objective: Synthesis of chloroquine derivative d-block metal complexes and primarily using Rh, Co and Ru as metal centre. Additionally, attempting to form new dithiocarbamate complexes using a modified ligand. The work was finished with an oral presentation, which also provided practise by presenting research in an understandable way for a wide audience.
Sum. 09 - Spring 10 Research Project under supervision of Dr. Ebbe Nordlander at Lund University.
Objective: Investigation of potential antimalarial agents, a project that spanned over the field of both organic and inorganic chemistry. A new chloroquine derivative ligand was synthesized which later showed high antimalarial activity in in vitro studies. It was used to make new chloroquine derivative d-block metal complexes, mainly with nickel and platinum. The research was later published and the work was also completed with a written report and a research talk.
Research Project (B.Sc.) under supervision of Professor Kenneth Wärnmark, Lund University
Objective: Synthesis of various starting materials for salen and porphyrine intermediates in attempt to form the final supramolecular catalyst. The work was finalized with a written report.
GE Healthcare, Staffanstorp, contact person: Dr. Li Nilsson
Objective: Two weeks internship as a part of a school job event ”PRAO”. Laboratory work included synthesis of dextrane and work in clean lab environment with microbiological agents.Publications Spring 12
