Rail Release Instructions: EDIFACT IFCSUM D98B Specification

This Message Specifies the Australian Standard for the Electronic Rail Release Instructions (Containing Tagging and Container Release) and possibly can also be used for Road Release (but currently is out of Scope) of Maritime Import Cargo by Shipping Lines and Non-Shipping Lines (which include Importers, Agents, Freight Forwarders and the Rail Operators), Rail Release Instructions comprise of 2 Stages: Stage 1 – Container Tagging
Import Containers to be released on Rail must be electronically tagged & forwarded to the relevant Terminals prior to the Containers being discharged from the Import Vessel, so these Containers can be moved straight to the Rail Stacks immediately after being discharged. The Electronic Container Tagging can be initiated by Shipping Lines or Non-Shipping Lines. Stage 2 – Container Release
To affect the Release of the Tagged Containers, the Non- Shipping Line (the party with the Authority to affect the Release) will have to forward the Electronic Container Release Message to the Terminal which includes a Valid E-IDO Pin EDI DATA ELEMENT NAME
